Corpus Clock Is Revealed!
September 21, 2008
As a tribute for John Harrison, the inventor of grasshopper escapement mechanism, a clock was made based on this mechanism. The so-called “The Corpus Clock” was made for seven years and some of the parts were engineered underwater at a secret Dutch military research institute. It has grasshopper (also call chronophage, meaning “time eater”) atop it.
You must be interested to see the video of this $1 million mechanical clock. Expensive and unique, worth to be collectible I think. However, they only produce one and put it as an exterior of Corpus Christi College’s new library.
Btw, the clock is a reminder of our mortality. Sounds creepy, heh?
